In the land of burgers, barbecue and fried chicken, Birmingham still has an amazing variety of places to try if you’re craving a healthy, delicious meal. Keep reading for 11 of our favorite healthy spots in town.
1. Green House
Greenhouse is a Homewood favorite known for its salads, soups, sandwiches and cookies (seriously, the cookies are incredible). It is the perfect lunch spot that will leave you full and satisfied without putting you to sleep for the rest of the day.
2. Kale Me Crazy
Kale Me Crazy, another Homewood staple, is the best spot to grab something healthy for breakfast, lunch or just a quick snack. My go-to is the poké bowl.
3. Clean Eatz
The name says it all. At Clean Eatz, you can choose from their cafe menu, grab something to-to, or even sign up for their weekly meal plans. They make healthy eating so much easier.
You’ve probably seen us talk about Taproot, one of our favorite black-owned restaurants. You just can’t go wrong here! Their salads and paninis are so yummy and made with all the best ingredients. If you haven’t tried it, it’s a must.
5. Real & Rosemary
This one is pretty obvious. With three locations open now, it’s definitely a fan favorite. Real & Rosemary is the perfect choice if you’re wanting to go out to dinner while still keeping it healthy.
6. Tasty Town
Welcome the new kid in town! I’ve been a few times already and all I can say is Tasty Town is INCREDIBLE. The hummus, pita sandwich and chocolate cake combo was enough to make me come back for lunch the next day.
7. Farm Bowl
It can be so hard to find something on-the-go that’s healthy and makes you feel good. Farm Bowl makes it easy to grab a juice and a bowl and get right back to your day.
8. Chop N Fresh
Any of your salad dreams can be made true at Chop N Fresh. They have signature salads they’ve come up with, but you can also create your own with any ingredients you want.
Usually, a nice dinner out doesn’t mean you’re going to have the healthiest meal (that’s okay, that’s what a night out is all about!) but sometimes, you just want something good for you. Bettola makes getting your veggies in easier than ever. Look at that okra…
10. Underground Vegan
Another one of our favorite black-owned restaurants! Underground Vegan serves up one of a kind vegan meals that everyone can enjoy.
11. Brick & Tin
Brick & Tin is the epitome of a light, yummy lunch spot. Their salads, soups and seasonal menu items are unbelievably fresh and always delicious.
