He’s really a meathead.
An Instagrammer, who simply goes by his first name of John, is on a mission to eat only raw meat every day, but he’s worried his followers, who claim he is on the “verge of insanity” after almost six months of consuming nothing but uncooked animal products.
Erm, the man behind the Instagram account @rawmeatexperiment, reached Day 166 on Tuesday — and has no plans to stop any time soon.
“Eating raw meat at Whole Foods every day until I die from bacteria,” he wrote in his Instagram bio. “Seeing if I Live for 5 days or 500 years.”
His account, which has amassed 144,000 followers, shows his diet of uncooked steak, fish and chicken, alongside egg yolks, which he drinks, raw animal milk and only “natural” water.
John started his “experiment” in November, according to the Takeout, mainly for health reasons.
“When I started eating steak and eggs for breakfast, instead of bagels and smoothies, I felt full for most of the day, and stable, instead of getting dizzy from a carb crash, [and] my pain started to go away,” he wrote in one post.
However, his fans are starting to grow concerned, claiming his posts have become increasingly alarming.
“Meat is the only food that nobody has bad reactions to (except for those lone star ticks invented by big vegetable) and dead animals are the only food group that have all the micronutrients that a human needs,” John wrote in a Tuesday post.
“I’ve learned a lot about nature, farming, soil, history, nutrition etc, by following the carnivore people.”
The post drew many comments from fans who were concerned about his well-being.
“Drink more water bro,” one user wrote.
“Look at this page and tell me if he’s crazy, lost his mind or on the verge of insanity,” another user joked.
Several other users thought John was doing the stunt for attention.
“I showed you to my mom and her bf and their boomer brains just about exploded,” one commented.
“The only way they could process what I was showing them was by convincing themselves that you must be violently ill and dying every night and then coming back and doing it again the next day purely ‘for the followers.’”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned against diets similar to John’s extreme carnivore preferences, noting that consuming raw meat could result in food poisoning, salmonella, Clostridium perfringens, E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes and Campylobacter.
“Raw and undercooked meat and poultry can make you sick,” the CDC noted. “Thoroughly cook poultry and meat. You can kill bacteria by cooking poultry and meat to a safe internal temperature.”
John is not the first person to go strictly raw. In February, “The Hills” reality star Heidi Montag filmed herself eating a raw bison heart on Instagram.
Nebraska resident Weston Rowe has been consuming a raw meat diet, including raw chicken, for the past four years — and also has no plans to stop.
Two other raw meat eaters, Hungarian chef Nikolett Kiss and Brian “Liver King” Johnson, swear by the diet.
“After meals, I am less bloated and have since seen a huge increase in my body, both mentally and physically,” Kiss said.
